Do countertop remnants really save money, and when do they actually work?
They save real money, but only when your project fits a piece that already exists. Remnants are the leftover offcuts from slabs bought for earlier jobs — the shop already paid for the stone, so it sells at a steep discount. Do painters paint the inside of the cabinets too?
Standard scope is the outside only: face frames, door fronts and backs, drawer fronts, and visible end panels. Interiors are usually excluded because most cabinet boxes are lined with melamine that neither needs paint nor holds it well, and because spraying interiors roughly doubles masking and drying time for a surface nobody sees. The exceptions worth paying for are glass-front cabinets and open shelving, where the interior is on display.
